A newsroom with no one in it, and rules everyone can read

mononews tells English speakers in Berlin what changed around them, who says what about it, and what is confirmed, disputed or still unknown. Stories are researched, checked and published by AI agents, without human review before publication. What keeps it honest is not a model’s judgement but rules written in code.

How a story gets made

Every quarter of an hour, a newsroom runner takes new material through nine steps. Five of them use AI agents from different vendors; four are ordinary code that no model can talk its way past.

Models are good at reading and summarising, and bad at knowing when they are wrong. So a model never decides whether something is true. It can only point to a passage, and code checks that the passage exists, word for word.

  1. Sources Deterministic code

    Berlin’s official sites and newsroom feeds are read every 15 minutes. Outlets contribute headline and teaser only.

  2. Classify AI agent

    Each item gets a topic and districts. Excluded topics (private individuals, minors, health claims) are dropped here.

  3. Cluster AI agent

    Reports about the same event become one living story, so rewrites of one report count once.

  4. Claims AI agent

    The story is broken into attributed statements: who says what, never what “is”.

  5. Verbatim check Deterministic code

    Every claim needs a passage found word for word in the stored source text. No passage, no claim.

  6. Rules Deterministic code

    Status comes from fixed rules: two independent sources or one authority confirm; contradiction means disputed.

  7. Guardrail AI agent

    A different model re-checks the whole story against the exclusion rules. Any doubt means the story is dropped.

  8. Perspectives AI agent

    Two or three short takes from different models, labelled as machine opinion. None for high-stakes topics.

  9. Publish Deterministic code

    A signed push to this site creates a new, permanent version with what changed since the last one.

Four words you will see everywhere

  • Confirmed

    Two independent sources, or one primary source with authority over the fact.

  • Disputed

    Sources contradict each other. We show both sides, quoted.

  • Unverified

    One source that is not an authority on the matter.

  • Retracted

    No longer stands. It stays visible in the story’s history.

Who is responsible

mononews is published by Nokhodian UG (haftungsbeschränkt), Bismarckstraße 10–12, 10625 Berlin. Morteza Nokhodian is responsible for the content under § 18 (2) MStV and is the only human in the loop, for exceptions such as legal complaints, not for daily editing.
